Teriyaki Salmon

Simple, tasty, healthy.  Just a few ingredients needed to make a quick marinade.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 C Tamari or Shoyu soy sauce
  • 1/2 C Mirin
  • 1/2 C Maple syrup honey or unrefined sugar
  • 1 inch Knob grated or minced Fresh Ginger or 1/2 tsp ginger powder
  • 1/2 tsp Onion powder
  • 1-2 cloves Garlic - 1 or 2 cloves minced or ½ to 1 tsp garlic powder minced
  • 4 Salmon filets

Instructions

  1. Mix first 6 ingredients in a sauce pan.
  2. Bring to a boil.
  3. Lower heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Sauce can be thickened by making a slurry and adding if desired.
  5. Place salmon fillets in a baking dish and pour in teriyaki sauce.
  6. Heat oven to 350°
  7. Bake for 15 minutes or until salmon is flaky

Recipe Notes

If not using Mirin, I suggest adding more sweetener to offset the highly salty soy sauce. Also adding a splash of pineapple is tasty and adds some sweetness.
